A short video clip from the James Ferraro gig…

Saw James Ferraro the other week, got a whole can of hair spray emptied onto us, I think this made the crowd go a bit funny. People were crowd surfing. Needless to say it was awesome.

An incredibly intense and beautiful portrait of Japanese folk legend Kazuki Tomokawa, absolutely cannot be missed.

Apart from the music itself, which is overwhelmingly beautiful, I also feel that this video somehow encapsulates Japan, or at least my own personal experience of it which I have been reflecting on quite a lot recently.

How’s Annie?

Here’s a very old song of mine. How’s Annie? ‘Are You Listening’

I made this track and mixed it down on a super old tascam 4-track, unfortunately it didn’t last to long, some problem with the DC or something, an electrician friend of mine couldn’t figure it out so it was binned. This is one of the few songs I’ve made with my vocals on it!

Tapes Tapes and Vinyl (Live Mix)

Here’s another mix, but this one is a little different since its a live mix which uses ONLY tape cassettes and vinyl. In fact I alternated between those two mediums using an old Coomber tape deck and a single Vestax portable turntable. Its live, so I guess its more like a kind of podcast, radio type deal, but you should totally check it out cos there’s some real rare shit in there.

The Sean Mccann tape ‘Open Resolve’ is a total winner and you should try and get a copy now, should be available somewhere. Also, Mark Mcguire’s self-released tape ‘Tidings II’ is a thing of beauty, but only 90 were made so good luck getting one those suckers!

CHECK IT OUT DICKS!

Dolphins Into The Future

Took this photo during a long cold winter. It was really dark in the venue and I hate when people use flash during sets like this, it totally ruins the vibe. Anyway, this is why its so grainy but I figure, well so is the music. Dude is so new age, he can rock sandals and socks in mid-winter.

What Was Music?

While I’m at it, here’s another mix I made: “Totally murked out lo-fi shit - broken equipment, tape cassettes and those who shouldn’t make music but do it anyway.”

http://www.mixcloud.com/wwm/mixtape-1-tape-murkage-and-hypnagogic-drones/

This one starts of with actual guitars, playing what appear to be actual notes, don’t worry though cos it soon deteriorates into the murkier depths.

What Was Music?

http://www.mixcloud.com/wwm/sound-collage-found-sound-miscellaneous/

I made this mix a while back, it explores weirdo shit, especially stuff like sound collage, found sounds and the murky, perhaps even “quieter” side of noise (an oxymoron I know), which folks like Dylan Nyoukis totally nail.

Check it! The dude in the picture is Åke Hodell, a total legend.
